How to Make a Coffee Fire Log

How to Make a Coffee Fire Log

Have you ever thought about using your used coffee grounds for another purpose? Did you know that you can turn them into a log for your fire?! Seriously! You don't even have to be a wizard, anyone can do this quick and easy magic trick at home.

Whether you're sitting by the fire on a cool night out camping or just using the fireplace to keep your home warm during those cold winter days and nights, this family friendly do-it-yourself project will not only help you reduce your fire wood use, but will also leave you home or campsite smelling absolutely amazing.

For this, you will need to collect used coffee grounds and dry them out in the oven. All you need is 3 ingredients and a loaf tin.

Ingredients:

600g Dried, used Higher Realms coffee grounds
250g Wax beads melted
250g Molasses

Directions:

1. Dry the coffee in the oven at 180c/350f for 30 minutes and set aside to cool.

2. Melt the wax bead in the oven at 180c/350f for 10 minutes and stir in the molasses.

3. Mix in the dried coffee grounds and smooth out.

4. bake at 180c/350f for 30 minutes and allow to cool thoroughly before removing from tin.

These Coffee fire logs can burn for up to 2 hours and can reduce the need for wood while emitting the wonderful aroma of coffee throughout your house or campsite.

Tip: use a silicone loaf tin as this will be easier to remove the coffee fire log once cooled.
