First we'll leave you with the recipe and directions to make “Devil’s Breath”, and then go into detail about each of the ingredients so you can understand what makes our version of a mocha coffee elevated above the rest.

Devil’s Breath Ingredients:

  • 12oz to 16oz of brewed Higher Realms Coffee
  • 1/25 tablespoon of Organic Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of Organic Cacao Powder
  • 1 tablespoon of Grass-fed Butter
  • 1 tablespoon of Raw Unfiltered Honey
  • 1 tablespoon of Bovine Colostrum (we recommend Surthrival colostrum)

Directions:

Measure out coffee grounds to brew and mix 1/25 tablespoon of organic ground cayenne pepper into the grounds. Add hot water and brew for appropriate time of chosen brewing method. While the coffee is brewing, add 1 tablespoon of Gras-fed butter, 1 tablespoon of organic cacao powder, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 heaping tablespoon of Bovine colostrum into a blender (Butter and Colostrum can be substituted for unflavored cream). Once the coffee is done brewing, go ahead and pour it into the blender. Blend the ingredients together on high for 30 to 40 seconds, no more than 60. Pour the mixture into your favorite mug or to-go cup and enjoy!

You can always add more ground cayenne pepper to the coffee grounds before brewing if you want more of a spicy kick to your coffee, but we’ve found 1/25th of a tablespoon is the most acceptable starting point for those that are not accustomed to spicy food and drinks.

What’s So Special About The Ingredients?

Gras-fed Butter

Butter is often dismissed as a universally unhealthy ingredient. After all, butter of all varieties is high in fat because it’s made of milk fat. However, there’s more to this common kitchen ingredient than its fat content.

Grass-fed butter in particular offers health benefits to counteract the health risks it poses. It's a rich source of energy, vitamins, and minerals and has lower levels of saturated fats and more unsaturated fats than standard butter, for example. This is because grass-fed butter is made from the milk of cows that are allowed to graze instead of being fed high-grain GMO diets. Studies show that consuming grass-fed butter in moderation has more benefits and fewer risks than consuming standard butter.

Grass-fed butter is a rich source of:

  • Vitamin K
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Conjugated linoleic acid
  • Butyrate
  • Saturated fats

Grass-fed butter is a great source of bioavailable Vitamin A. This vitamin has been connected to a lower risk of conditions like cataracts, diarrhea, measles, and breast cancer.

Research has found a number of potential health benefits to eating butter

Better Digestive Health

Butter is rich in many types of fat, including butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that has been studied for its health benefits. One important benefit of butyrate is its potential effect on your digestive health. Studies suggest that consuming foods rich in butyrate can help fuel the “good bacteria” that live in your intestines. It also appears to help relieve intestinal inflammation, which can cause symptoms like stomach pain, bloating, or irregular bowel movements.

Improved Insulin Sensitivity

Butyric acid may have another important benefit. While more studies need to be conducted, early trials suggest that consuming butyric acid can help boost energy use and improve insulin sensitivity. For people with diabetes, this may mean that regularly eating small amounts of grass-fed butter could help them manage their blood glucose levels more effectively.

May Reduce Inflammation

Finally, grass-fed butter is a good source of a nutrient called conjugated linoleic acid. This is a compound that’s currently being studied for its effects on the immune system and inflammatory response. Early trials suggest that consuming enough conjugated linoleic acid may help reduce chronic inflammation and associated decreases in immune function. Grass-fed butter has been shown to have up to 500% more conjugated linoleic acid than standard butter.

Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne peppers are long, skinny peppers with a glossy, cherry-red hue. Officially known as Capsicum annum, these pungent peppers are members of the Solanaceae (nightshade) family, along with their distant cousins, potatoes, eggplants and tomatoes. Cayenne peppers are thought to have originated in South America, but their easygoing spice has made them a popular addition to cuisines around the world.

Cayenne pepper benefits

The health benefits of cayenne peppers go well beyond their vitamin content. Many of their benefits come from capsaicin, the natural compound that gives all peppers their spicy kick.

How, exactly, are cayenne peppers good for your health? Let us count the good things that cayenne can do.

Provides beneficial plant compounds

Cayenne peppers are fantastic sources of antioxidants and other plant compounds that protect our cells and promote health. Antioxidants, along with related compounds like flavonoids and carotenoids, are compounds naturally found in plants.

These compounds protect our cells against damage from harmful substances in the environment. They fight the processes that age our cells to help keep our cells young.

A diet rich in antioxidants can help ward off diseases, including heart disease and certain types of cancers. And cayenne peppers are a particularly good source of these superstar compounds. In one study, researchers compared antioxidant levels in 20 different hot peppers. Cayenne peppers came out on top.

    Protects your heart

Cayenne peppers can protect heart health in several ways. There’s evidence, for instance, that capsaicin can protect against inflammation in your body. Inflammation plays a role in many different diseases, including heart disease. Cayenne peppers can keep blood vessels healthy and may help lower blood pressure.

Researchers found that people who regularly ate chili peppers were 13% less likely to die than people who avoided spicy fare. The reason? Spice lovers had a lower risk of heart-related diseases like heart attacks and strokes.

      Improves digestion

Lots of people associate spicy foods with heartburn or an upset stomach. But for many people, spice can have the opposite effect. Cayenne pepper is really helpful for digestion; it increases gastric juices and enzyme production in the stomach, which helps us break down food.

There’s also evidence that spicy foods like cayenne peppers can boost the good bacteria in your gut. The microbiome is a community of bacteria in your gut that are important for a healthy immune system. Capsaicin may help promote a healthy microbiome.

Of course, spicy fare can trigger heartburn in some people. If cayenne pepper doesn’t agree with you, don’t force it. If your body doesn’t like it, you’ll know.

        Maintain a healthy weight

Cayenne peppers and other capsaicin-containing spicy foods may help with weight loss. Spicy foods can rev up the metabolism a bit, helping burn calories. It can also help you feel fuller after eating.

The effect isn’t enough to overcome an unhealthy diet, but as part of a nutritious eating plan, spicy foods may suppress appetite and help with weight loss.

What’s more, a spicy, flavorful diet tends to be more satisfying. And when you’re satisfied, you’re less likely to reach for not-so-healthy foods and snacks. People who use strong flavors and add a lot of spices like cayenne are often happier with their diets. People who enjoy these flavorful herbs and spices typically eat well overall.

          Ease pain and clear congestion

Some evidence suggests that spicy peppers are good for an achy (or stuffy) head. When you’re stuffed up, spicy foods can help clear the congestion. And if your head is pounding, spicy chili or tacos may help. Cayenne peppers have also been shown to help relieve headaches.

Capsaicin is also used in topical form to treat pain. Creams made from the potent spice can be rubbed on your skin to treat arthritis pain.

            Cacao Powder

            Health Benefits of Cacao

The seemingly humble cacao bean is a nutritional powerhouse. And because it can be transformed into such a toothsome treasure, scientists seem rather motivated to study it. There’s already a ton of research on cacao’s many benefits—most of it incredibly promising. Here’s a quick rundown of some notable findings.

            Improves Cognitive Function

Regular cacao consumption can improve general cognition, attention, processing speed, and working memory, and reduce mental fatigue—not just right after you consume it, but even in the long term. Much of this is thanks to theobromine, caffeine, and all those flavonols. Studies have also found it could even reduce some measures of age-related cognitive dysfunction.

              Boosts the Immune System

While there have yet to be clinical trials to prove a direct link between cacao and immune function, we can deduce that—with its impressive amounts of flavonoids and minerals—consuming cacao may have beneficial effects on the immune system. It’s a good source of zinc, one of the most important nutrients for fighting off bacteria and viruses, and its polyphenols help feed good gut bacteria, which are also essential to keeping strong immunity. Heck, cacao may even be able to increase the production of your body’s white blood cells.

                Supports the Cardiovascular System

Cacao’s dense concentration of theobromine and flavonols is largely responsible for its ability to decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease. Minerals like potassium and zinc are also crucial in maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system. Cacao can lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, prevent blood clots, raise HDL (the “good” cholesterol), and protect against oxidation of LDL. Eating dark chocolate more than five times per week lowered the risk of heart disease by 57% in one study.

Protects Against Chronic Diseases and Maybe Even Cancer

Cocoa polyphenols express antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic properties. Such health-promoting goodness goes a long way in protecting against oxidative stress and chronic inflammation—both major risk factors for cancer and other chronic diseases. Antioxidant effects can directly influence insulin resistance, helping to reduce your risk for diabetes, while the anti-inflammatory potential of cocoa flavanols may offer protection against everything from coronary heart disease to chronic kidney disease.

                    Supports the Gut

The gut microbiome is so vital and complex it’s often referred to as “the second brain.” An increasing amount of research is discovering just how important the bacteria in your gut is when it comes to all aspects of your body and brain. A healthy gut can potentially prevent or improve health conditions, including mood disorders, heart disease, autoimmune conditions, arthritis, obesity, and cancer. Consuming cocoa flavanols can offer a prebiotic effect, stimulating the growth of healthy gut bacteria.

                      Boosts Mood

Simply put, chocolate can make you happy. A wide array of cacao’s chemical compounds offer significant mood-enhancing properties, including theobromine, caffeine, phenylethylamine (otherwise known as the “love drug”), and some of the body’s own naturally occurring antidepressants like anandamide (whose name translates as “bliss”), tryptophan, and serotonin.

                        Improves Sleep Quality

How well you sleep often depends on how stressed you are. Cacao can be both energizing and calming, giving you the right balance of each, kind of like adaptogenic herbs. It can reduce blood pressure (insomniacs often have higher nighttime blood pressure) and mitigate the effects of anxiety (another thing keeping many of us awake at night) due to its magnesium concentration and trace amounts of tryptophan. And even though theobromine is a mild stimulant, it could still contribute to longer sleep.

                          Enhances Performance

The flavanols in cacao can even influence the bioavailability of nitric oxide (NO), which often equates to enhanced physical performance. Indeed, this study found that after eating dark chocolate, cyclists used less oxygen and covered a longer distance compared to a cacao-less ride. Read more about the performance-enhancing properties of cacao here.

                            Protects Skin and Teeth

Cacao can even make you look good. Its flavanols help protect the skin from sun damage. This in turn can reduce wrinkles and even boost collagen, according to a study on mice. Meanwhile, theobromine’s antimicrobial effects have proven it can be more potent than fluoride in protecting your teeth from decay. Yes, cacao face masks are now indeed a thing, and no, we will not judge if you decide to start swishing and gargling with cacao, too.

                              Slows Down Aging

Could a deep vat of chocolate be the true fountain of youth? Perhaps. And if all the above health benefits won’t convince you of cacao’s age-defying power, perhaps a few more studies will. Along with keeping your skin fresh and firm, cacao can delay the onset of age-related cognitive decline and neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Another fascinating study found that one major flavonoid in cacao, called epicatechin, showed anti-aging effects in mice. After a regular diet that included epicatechin, the gene expression and protein levels of old mice resembled that of young mice, and their survival rate increased by a whopping 69%. Of course, human studies are necessary to verify this potential, but that’s reason enough for us to add a little more cacao to our daily routines.

                                Bovine Colostrum

Perhaps the world’s most functional food, Colostrum – Immune Milk – has been researched in over 4000 studies and proven to have powerful Regenerative, Adaptogenic, and Immuno-Modulating properties.

Colostrum is the “immune milk” produced by all mammals for only the first few hours before and after birth. Supercharged with 97 immune factors and 87 growth factors, bovine Colostrum is nature’s “first food”. Its adaptogenic properties have been known to enhance rejuvenation and regeneration while strengthening the immune system, allowing your body to thrive under any circumstance.

Widely known for its potent anti-aging benefits and broad spectrum probiotics in their whole food forms, bovine Colostrum supports good digestion and is extremely dense in nutrition, helping to support your health and longevity strategy.

Colostrinin, also known as Proline-Rich Polypeptides (PRP), is derived from bovine colostrum and have been shown to be effective in the treatment of many health conditions, most notably neuro-degenerative conditions (such as Alzheimer’s), viral infections, auto-immune conditions, asthma, and allergic conditions.

PRP has been noted for its geno-protective properties, being anti-mutigenic, and reducing the rate of mutation in cells exposed to UVA, UVB, and other oxidative stresses.

While many studies have been performed using isolated PRP’s, it is our belief that nutrients are always more effective when used in their whole-food form, as found in nature, and when synergistically supported by the rich matrix of nutrients they are found within.

While Colostrinin represents a near miracle nutrient, it is just one class of nutrients found in bovine colostrum.

                                Organic Raw Unfiltered Honey

                                It’s Rich in Antioxidants

Everyone knows that honey is delicious. However, fewer people know that this syrup contains potent antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The natural sweetness and health properties of raw, unfiltered honey make it a must-have ingredient for any crafted morning brew.

                                It Promotes Anti-Inflammatory Healing

Raw, unfiltered honey also contains anti-inflammatory properties. Its traces of natural hydrogen peroxide help it kill off surface-level bacteria and viruses as the honey itself keeps inflamed areas sealed with its moist and gooey texture. This naturally occurring benefit has led people to use raw honey on burns and other wounds for centuries.

                                It’s Antibacterial and Antifungal

Raw, unfiltered honey is also antibacterial and antifungal. For centuries, people have used honey to improve their health. Honey kills off bacteria and fungi and has an abundance of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

                                Higher Realms Fresh Roasted Coffee

Coffee is the second-most popular drink after water. You will find that most people cannot function without taking a cup of coffee in the morning. However, conventional coffee contains many chemicals, and long-term consumption can cause harmful effects in your body, such as irritable skin, headaches, and some people even have allergic reactions.

Studies show that pesticide residue in coffee can increase the likelihood of Parkinson’s disease, anxiety, depression, and even miscarriage in pregnant women. To prevent these debilitating conditions from affecting you or your family, you should consume clean Higher Realms fresh roasted coffee.

What Are The Benefits Of Drinking Higher Grounds Fresh Roasted Coffee?

                                A Source of Antioxidants

Higher Grounds coffee is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants protect your body and cells from radicals, which can cause cancer and heart disease. Studies show that you can get more antioxidants in coffee than fruits and vegetables, making coffee truthfully one of the world’s healthiest hot (or cold) beverages, second to water.

                                Helps Fight Depression

Depression is a severe mental issue that can cause suicide, and studies show that about 4.1% of people in the United States suffer from clinical depression.

However, a 2011 study conducted by Harvard revealed that women who took more than four cups of coffee daily have a considerably lower risk of being depressed. This is because when you drink coffee, it stimulates your central nervous system by elevating serotonin and dopamine. These hormones boost your mood; making coffee a good anti-depressant.

Another study conducted on 208,424 people showed that those who drank more than 4 cups of coffee each day were 53% less likely to die by suicide. The energy provided by coffee helps in fighting the lethargic symptoms of depression.

It also helps open up and converse with other people, which is a good sign because depressed people isolate themselves. Therefore, if you feel down, take a cup of coffee, don’t drink several cups continuously; instead, disperse them throughout your day.

                                Improves Your Memory

At one point in our lives, we find that the rate of forgetfulness increases. This memory loss may be due to having many responsibilities or old age. A recent study suggests that coffee is a good memory booster. It is common knowledge that coffee has cognitive-enhancing effects.

A recent study by John Hopkins University shows that coffee can enhance long-term memory. Although coffee has many benefits, it’s still best that you do not over-consume. Enjoy your cup of Higher Grounds fresh roasted coffee at any time of the day to help you enhance your memory.

                                Improves Physical Performance

Coffee stimulates your central nervous system, signaling your body to burn calories. It also increases the level of adrenaline (the fight or flight hormone) in your body. This hormone is responsible for preparing your body for intense physical exercise.

You can take coffee before a workout as it helps burn fat and give you the energy to exercise for more extended periods without getting tired. In addition, it helps convert fats to body fuel, thus helping you keep fit. Therefore, drink a strong cup of Higher Grounds Coffee 30 minutes before your gym sessions to get the most out of your exercise.

                                It Helps You Burn Fat

If you check, you will find caffeine in every commercial fat-burning supplement. Coffee is one of the few natural components that help burn fat in the human body.

Studies show that coffee helps in boosting your metabolic rate by about 3-11%. A study was conducted on ten lean and ten obese women, and it showed that lipid oxidation increased by 29% in slender women and 10% in obese women.

Lowers The Risks of Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative disorder that affects the central nervous system, affecting millions globally. However, modern science is bringing a ray of hope to people and families suffering from this disease.

There is the introduction of new drug therapies and changes in lifestyle habits that can help manage the symptoms of this disease.

A study published in Wiley Online Library shows that organic coffee has a slight positive effect on treating and preventing this disease. So how does caffeine prevent the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease? It acts by inhibiting the damaged cells in the brain, which create the shakes and tremors associated with the disease.

And the antioxidants help repair these cells. Keep in mind only organic coffee because non-organic coffee contributes to the disease.

                                Improves Heart Health

Lifestyle habit change can help lower the risk of stroke. Better for you, coffee can also reduce the chances of stroke.

The Division of Nutritional Epidemiology in Stockholm, Sweden, conducted a study that tracked people’s coffee-drinking habits over 20 years. They found a lower risk of stroke for people, especially women who drank more than two cups of coffee per day.

                                Protects You Against Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease and also the leading cause of dementia in the world. This disease primarily affects people above the age of 65, and it does not have a cure.

But, there are several things you can do to prevent the disease from affecting you. This preventive action includes changing your lifestyle habits, such as eating healthy, exercising, yoga, and meditating. It is also said that coffee can help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

A study published in Wiley Online Library shows that coffee can help protect people from Alzheimer’s disease. It is reported that coffee drinkers have a 65% lower chance of developing AD.

In addition, a study conducted by Krembil Brain Institute shows that coffee has a compound known as phenylindanes produced when coffee is roasted. This compound helps reduce the clumping of proteins in the brain, the primary cause of AD.

Make sure to pick a clean coffee like Higher Realms because conventional coffee increases the chances of developing the diseases due to the chemicals therein.

Provides Your Body With Essential Nutrients

Higher Grounds coffee beans have plenty of nutrients that are essential to your body.

                                They include:

                                • Riboflavin (vitamin B2)
                                • Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5)
                                • Manganese
                                • Potassium
                                • Magnesium and niacin (Vitamin B3)

                                Protects Your Liver

Your liver is vital as it performs several functions in your body, including bile production and excretion, production of specific proteins, and cholesterol as well as storage of glycogen, vitamins, and minerals.

Several diseases affect your liver, such as hepatitis, and fatty liver disease, which leads to cirrhosis if they are not treated promptly. Studies show that coffee helps protect your liver against cirrhosis; people who drink more than 4 cups of coffee in a single day have an 80% lower risk of suffering from liver cirrhosis.

Lowers The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is a significant health problem that is affecting millions of people worldwide. This condition is characterized by elevated blood sugar levels caused by insulin resistance or your body’s inability to secret insulin.

Several studies show that people who regularly drink coffee have a lower risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

A survey reviewing 18 studies conducted on about 457,922 people on the effects of coffee shows that people who consumed a cup of coffee daily had a 7% reduced risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

Protects You Against Certain Types Of Cancer

In the world today, several people are dying because of cancer every day. Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of dangerous cells in your body. And as we’ve seen, coffee protects your body against liver cirrhosis/ liver cancer. It can also protect you from colorectal cancer.
